Marriage and the Media

Well... with it being Valentine's Day and all next week... I feel it is only fair that I write about how media has influenced my marriage.

I love my wife!  She has been my best friend for coming up on 8 years now!  She is so selfless, kind, beautiful, and loving... and this Valentine's Day marks 2 1/2 years being married too!

We were married on August 14, 2012.  It is great to look back on photos and videos to remind us of that day.  Now, not as many people get wedding videos these days... they can be expensive.  We got a deal because I used to work for a wedding video company before my mission.  Though... even if you do have a wedding video, it seems like you watch it a couple times, maybe at your anniversary, and then put it with the rest of your DVD's.  Well... I love watching ours... it reminds me of the wonderful day that we started off our journey together... as well as a continual reminder of the covenant or promise we made with our Heavenly Father.

Now let me just say, marriage isn't like all the fairy tales... it is hard... but it is also real love, unlike what we see in the movies.  I have grown so much through my marriage and continue to learn from the great example of my wife.  I love to read articles and watch Mormon Messages that help me to be not only a better Father but also, a better Husband.

This quote is one of my favorites:

"If you want something to last forever, you treat it differently. You shield it and protect it. You never abuse it. You don’t expose it to the elements. You don’t make it common or ordinary. If it ever becomes tarnished, you lovingly polish it until it gleams like new. It becomes special because you have made it so, and it grows more beautiful and precious as time goes by." - Elder F. Burton Howard

The world's mentality can be very selfish... "If you don't like your marriage, then you can always find someone else".  Marriage is meant to last forever... but to make it last forever both must be willing to learn, grow, and be refined into the people that God intends us to become...

These 2 videos remind me of how true CHARITY can guide us... change us... and transform us... through the Atonement of Christ.

"Expressions of Love"

"Enduring Love"
This one... gets me every time... this is what TRUE LOVE looks like.
